:: TIN玩物好相心得分享::
I am Tin Ng and start this kind of pictures modification in May-2004. I am quite a man who like to imagine in everywhere I have been, MongKok and KCR are the main places I ususally been and thats why they are the background of most pics.

Thanks to digital pictures and PhotoSHop that allow our dream come true. They are great inventions that dont require intensive training but provide a professional results. To make a good superimposed pics, keeping the same camera position setting in taking the background and character are very important. This can make the prospected view of both the character and background about the same and the outcoming pic would be more logical and looks comfortable. Beside, prospected view of an object is not very possible to adjust in Photoshop.

For the Photoshop works, experience can be gain after several works. The works in Photoshop are usually the merging and lightning adjustment. There are just some simple guideline for reference.

Brief guidelines for all brothers who have interest to try:

A. Cut out the robo
1. Choose the robo pic with simple or single colour background
2. Use the magic wand tool to highlight all the useless background
3. Use the inverse selector function and you robo would be highlight out
4. The selected robo would include a bit of the background, so that a complete robo can be cut out
5. Copy it

B. Put the robo onto the natural background
1. Open the background file and paste the robo
2. The robo will appear in a second layer
3. Use magic wand tool to select the buildings or any obsacles in the background
4. Copy and paste again, third layer with only the obsacles is created

From here, you get 3 layers:
Background layer: the natural background
Layer 1: RObo
Layer 2: Obsacles

5. Move the layer 2 in the layer list to the toppest position and the obsacles will cover the robo feet!!

C. Merging!
1. Select the robo layer only, adjust the light and contrast so that it match the background
2. Select the backgroud layer only, spray the shadow. Be reminded the change only effect on the layer you selected, so the shadow you spray on the background wont affect the robo.
3. Remember you still have lot of crazy edge on the robo, you need to use the EyeDropper and Pencil tool to edit them manually:

3.1 Select the robo layer
3.2 Use EyeDropper tool to get the background colour nearby the edge
3.3 Use Pencil tool to edit the edge pix by pix, sure you need to zoom in the pic to a grant size.
3.4 Repeat the 3.3 with different background colour and you may get a better result
This process would remove 70% of the edge.

4. To completely remove the edge, use the SelectionBruchTool to highlight the robo edge only. Run the blur filter.
Then the robo edge would be 100% eliminated!!!

Some tips for all big brother like to take toys photo....

To have a impressive toy pic, the main thing need to be considered is the light such that you can use fast shutter speed with small aperture. DSLR is not a must!!!

Basic equipments:
-Prosumer DC with flash hotshoe (the cheapest prosumer DC in market is around HKD4000)
-A powerfull external flash unit with bounce mode ( cost around HKD1500~2500)

Use the DC in manual mode
-Adjust the shutter speed at 1/100
-Adjust the aperture around F4~5

Use the flash also in manual mode
-Adjust the flash bulb to vertical angle as mine
-Adjust the output to around 1/4~1/16 ( you may need try different setting to achieve a best explosure)

Then you can shot causally and get a nice pic easily!!
